CDA York County

History

CDA York County is an educational program for the National Child Development Associates Credentialing. It was founded in September 1997 in response to the growing demand both to offer opportunities in child care that suits both financial and schedule needs for teachers working with young children and to enhance the quality of programs in Southern Maine.

CDA York County is strongly committed to providing supportive learning experiences for all students. Components that continue to drive our program today are hands-on learning and individual support. The Instructor and Field Advisor continuously provide guidance for each student to meet their goals in attaining their Credential. Each student is unique and is encouraged to use developmentally appropriate ideas and practices in ways that are most meaningful for them. This program is designed for any teacher working with young children, whether it is with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers. In addition, students who are new to the child care field can complete our program by working in a high quality center as a student intern.

Due to the high demand for our courses, we began holding a second class in Biddeford in 1999. Over 100 students have completed the training program, ultimately enhancing the lives of children, families, and teachers in Southern Maine.
